The National Scout Committee of the Barbados Boy Scouts Association was launched in October 2003 and is comprised of one representative from each of the Districts.  At the launching, the Chief Commissioner charged the Committee with the task of rebuilding the Scout Section.  The Committee's original objectives were:

  • National Scout Camp – July 2005
  • Training and Retraining of Leaders
  • Readiness for Parades
  • Series of Pre-Jamboree Activities
  • National Scout Leaders Roundtable
  • Criteria for National Representation
  • Increase Transfer Between Sections
  • Promote Interaction at District and Group Level
  • Promote “Duty to God”
  • Guidelines for Starting New Troops
  • Resource Information for Leaders
  • “Information Pack” for Potential New Groups
  • Career Oriented Programmes & Activities for Scouts
  • National Scout Youth Forum
  • Ensure the Section is the Primary Arm of The Association
  • Continuous Recruitment of Adult Leaders
  • Procedure for Problem Solving
  • Promote the “Image” of Scouting
  • Sporting Activities
  • Special Activities

The inaugural National Scout Committee members were Mr. Trevor DeT. A. Jones A.D.C. (Bridgetown District), Mr. Davidson Williams A.D.C. - Scouts (Northern District), and Mr. Mark Brome D.D.C. (Southern District).  At the first meeting of the Committee, Mr. Jones was appointed the Chairman.

The current Committee (May 2008) comprises:  Mr. Trevor DeT. A. Jones A.D.C. (Chairman), Mr. Davidson Williams A.D.C. - Scouts (Northern District), Mr. Eucline Edghill A.D.C. (Southern District) and Mr. Hamilton Roach D.S. (Bridgetown District). 

Since October 2003, the Committee has been able to accomplish some of its goal and have made progress on others.  Full details of the Committee's progress can be found in the Chairman's Annual Reports.
